Shikakai Hair Wash Powder

Botanical Name: Acacia concinna

Shikakai is a prickly, scandent shrub, growing in tropical jungles shrub throughout India. It belongs to the Leguminosae family. The word 'shikakai' means "fruit for hair" and is a traditional variety of shampoo.

Shikakai Powder or the extract from the bark, leaves or pods is used as a hair cleansing agent and conditioner.

It is very effective in removing oil and dirt from hair. The normal practice is to apply oil to hair and scalp and allow it soak for sometime.

Shikakai Powder is used to control dandruff, promoting hair growth and strengthening hair roots.

Containing no dye content Shikakai Powder is great for hair preparation before using natural hair dyes. Cleaner and better conditioned hair will absorb more of the natural dyes giving you a better colour result.

Create a thick paste by mixing a small amount of Shikakai Powder with water. Gently massage the paste into the scalp and hair using your fingertips. Wait 2 to 5 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with water.
