African Black Soap Fair Trade
African Black Soap is made from Cocoa pods plus plantain peels, burnt to potash. This potash is added to water and boiled and all impurities filtered after boiling based on specific volumes. They then melt 45% Shea Butter, 30% Coconut Oil and 25% Palm Kernel Oil which is added to the filtered solution. The mixed content is then boiled, which becomes foamy and hardened. The hardened soap is scooped out and dried on platforms for extra solidification.
African Black Soap crumbles owing to its granularity but can easily be molded into small blocks.
DIY Tips and Tricks
African Black Soap can be cut into small pieces quite easily with a regular kitchen knife or soap cutter. The soap will soften when exposed to heat, and can be melted in a double boiler for re-batch soap making.
Use like regular soap by taking a small piece, use with water and rub on body, or face. You will be surprised how well it lathers and it can even be used on hair. A little piece of African Black Soap goes a long way when making cosmetics.
